Benzoic acid derivatives as luminescent sublimation dyes in cyanoacrylate fuming of latent fingerprints

چکیده

Abstract Development of latent prints employing cyanoacrylate ester (CA) can be a multistep process including CA fuming and subsequent fluorescent staining to produce fingerprints sufficient contrast for comparison work. To enable single‐step fuming—staining process, selection fluorophores have been developed as sublimation dyes in fuming. A greater array such luminescent would allow users flexibility selecting particular dye—CA combination best suit their processing needs. Toward this end, six benzoic acid derivatives were evaluated use under elementary conditions using single non‐porous surface type an inexpensive handheld UV lamp excitation. Two derivatives, 2‐hydroxybenzoic (salicylic acid) 2‐aminobenzoic (anthranilic acid), identified new potential with stained excited at 254 nm. The fluorescence intensity stability produced via the over approximately weeks image statistical analysis.

Cyanoacrylate fuming method for detection of latent fingermarks: a review

Cyanoacrylate, also called super glue, fuming is a chemical method for the detection of latent fingermarks on non-porous surfaces such as glass, plastic etc. The method relies on the deposition of polymerized cyanoacrylate ester on residues of latent fingermarks. The method develops clear, stable, white colored fingerprints. However, several post-treatement procedures can be used to improve the...

Variation in amino acid and lipid composition of latent fingerprints.

The enhancement of latent fingerprints, both at the crime scene and in the laboratory using an array of chemical, physical and optical techniques, permits their use for identification. Despite the plethora of techniques available, there are occasions when latent fingerprints are not successfully enhanced. An understanding of latent fingerprint chemistry and behaviour will aid the improvement of...

Protein Tyrosine Phosphatases (PTPs) that function as negative regulators of the insulin signaling cascade have been identified as novel targets for the therapeutic enhancement of insulin action in insulin resistant disease states. Reducing Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase1B (PTP1B) abundance not only enhances insulin sensitivity and improves glucose metabolism but also protects against obesity ind...

Lumicyano™: a new fluorescent cyanoacrylate for a one-step luminescent latent fingermark development.

Latent fingermarks developed by cyanoacrylate fuming often lack contrast; therefore further enhancement is required, such as dye staining. This second step is part of the conventional detection sequences performed by forensics practitioners. Dye-staining or powder dusting aims at improving contrast and at increasing the legibility of details, yet their use may at times be limited. Indeed powder...
